Current Openings

The Humanist Academy is a non-profit, K-8 private school located in Irving that provides a truly unique and revolutionary “disruptive” educational model, affiliated with Acton Academy. The Montessori method and principles permeate throughout the core of our philosophy and practice as well. We emphasize Socratic guidance as opposed to traditional teaching, mixed-aged classrooms with a self-paced curriculum as opposed to grade-levels, and life-oriented quests that culminate in a public exhibition of their learning as opposed to test scores and report cards.
Students are empowered to be in the driver seat of their learning in an environment that is truly theirs. Moreover, our goal is to support each hero’s journey as they seek to find their calling and change the world.

Socratic Elementary Guide

We are seeking a full-time Socratic Elementary Guide for the 2018-2019 school year. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about guiding children on their independent journey of life-long learning, and who possesses a depth, love, and commitment to the journey of each hero and THA / Acton philosophy and methodology. Our Socratic guides require tremendous faith in the capabilities of children, helping them step back and allow our heroes to make decisions, learn from failure, and take charge of their learning environment.
Socratic guides are expected to lead Socratic discussions each morning, never imposing their own views but posing thought-provoking questions to promote clarity of thought and inspire our heroes to explore, be curious, and take ownership of their learning, monitor student progress on our self-paced curriculum, and create life-oriented projects that nurture student curiosity and culminate in public exhibitions for the community.
If interested, please take a look through our website and email us a letter of introduction and resume in order to set up an interview.
Our guides serve as the pillars of our learning environment and receive competitive pay, commensurate with experience. Check us out and contact us for more information!
